My friends are planning to change their flights dates. The airline is saying their system is down and unable to check any availability on later dates and not sure when their system will be ok. My friends want to make a quick decision to see if there is any seat available on a particular day and date.

Can they do to a travel agent and check this information??

Thank you
What about if they call the agency that issued the tickets abroad, my thinking is they wont be offline same as here? Am i correct, any possibilities?

No, the travel agent would only access the same system that is down.

I would like to know if anybody could give me a very good and well-though out opinion on this matter which I am going to present to people now:

I am 21 years old. I come from Brazil, and moved to Australia and have been having enormous problems to adjust to the culture. The thing is, I do not adjust very well to Brazilian culture or Australian culture… possibly it might be because I came to a realization yesterday that my personal philosophy is very much what influenced me all those years: Asian culture, and especially the Japanese Bushido philosophy.

So with that in mind I want to talk seriously with people in here and ask their opinions on this: if anyone read books such as Bushido by Daidoji Yuzan, any poetic verses from old Japan, Hagakure, and the likes, I believe you know where I am coming from culturally. That is, I am in that spectrum of reality where I do not see the ego, or the mutual existance only, I see a reality based on honor and if you are going to work, you have to do it 100% to the best of your abilities, no complaints and total willingness of mind to do it in work.

Now here is where the problem starts: I am at a gigantic odd with Western traditional culture for a long while now… the matter at stake is the education system that we follow, as well as technology. I see things such as ideas like cloud computing, or increased lack of change in Politics and the modern stagnation of humanity, and I do not enjoy it a single tiny bit. So if you got the picture, here is the problem: it is not exactly not working hard to achieve my goals, it is just finding a way to make the Capitalist and traditional technocratic culture of places such as Australia, fit my mentality. It ultimately reached the point where I can no longer study in a Western based system, no matter how good it is; I feel I need to pass through real hardships and test myself deeper and deeper to really tell what I am willing to do for this world; let alone do it.

So I have as my situation at the moment getting a job in any music store, paying 15 dollars per hour. My plan is the following, and I would like to hear opinions on this, it is really important to me to hear more experienced people on this matter (not that I base my entire life on Empiricism; I’d think this empirical approach to life is very rudimentary from Westerners but oh well…):

1. I plan to save as much money as possible in a period of 3 to 4 years, and I have my stepfather and mother backing me up with most necessities that I’d have in a technocratic country.
2. I am not willing to pay for such things as the public health care as I do not see myself with any problems whatsoever that need to be constantly treated; so basically it would be a thing of paying some amounts every 2, 3 or 4 months to see if things are fine.
3. After I get a desired amount, I would like to move to an Asian country which is not so much full of technology, restrictions or what I’d consider as silly rules. I have been studying heavily about a possibility of going to Mongolia and possibly living there. It is small, it is easy to live by even if you had a small job in countries such as Brazil for a number of years, the biggest problem being the transport but that can be reasoned and also, me being located in Australia at the moment, helps in this situation. Any other countries which could have a similar structure would be welcomed… all I ask is that it be a small community with a economy that could make me have a high standard of monetary funds so I can continue doing things such as writing.
4. All the technology that I need at the present moment I already have, and I do not see with most of the new things that are coming out today as anything necessary for me; for instance, music was reduced to thuggish rap and Lady Gaga, movies are being pirated in a insane proportion, governments are not able to control their own information databases anymore, and so on…

So yes, I think I spoke for too long here, I hope to receive good answers on this, please no ludicrous overtly sentimental bullshit about the state of how our world is just going through a bad phase… because it has to my knowledge, been like that since the 70s.
To the gentleman who called himself Nonuna… I’d have to say, you sure can make things dumber with every passing word. No really, you take the cake as to why I hate most of what is happening today. Your sarcasm did not seem to have had even the small effect you intended upon… so let me show you where you are wrong:

1. I am talking about the country Mongolia, not the region that is under Chinese administration (Inner Mongolia). The country has Communist tendencies, however it is ALLIED for quite a good while now with the USA, and this is the country that has been supporting most of the technology in that place… you might not have even heard of things such as Neo-Nazis and extremists approving modern Mongolia as a example of what they consider a good and civilized Asian country and Nazis moving and becoming Mongols now because of the enormous allegiance that Mongols from Mongolia, not Inner Mongolia, have been giving the USA. Do not believe me? Check the sources you probably are go

I had a friend who went to India to find his spirituality. After I explained to him he didn’t need to go there to get that and that it’s within, he said that he knew that now but he had to go there to figure that out. Maybe you need to go there (an Asian country) to figure this out, but I have a feeling you won’t find what you’re looking for outside of yourself. I too am at odds with religion in this country and I’m from here. I don’t know if this fits in with your philosophy, but I have come to the realization that what you think about becomes your reality. Right now you probably think it’s difficult for you to find like minded people here so it probably is for you. What if you shifted your thinking to be in line with your desires. You might find yourself attracting like minded people into your lives where ever you end up. Just a thought. I hope this helps.

Live life loving.

Hello everyone. I am 33 years old and I will start my bachelors program later this year and need to make a decision. I know that I want to have a career in IT/IS, there is no question about that. However, this is going to be a new beginning for me. I have some work experience in System Implementation, but that is it, all rest of my experience is not in that area. So, I know I will need to start from zero, and I’m not afraid of that.
My problem is whether I should go for something that I know I would enjoy (Web Development)… or if I should go for something that apparently would give me better chances to find a job (Information Systems Security).
I have friends telling me I should do Web Development if this is something that I will enjoy, because it will empower me to work harder and stand out. But I have other friends telling me that I should go for Information Systems Security because I would have better chances to find a job, and that I should then do web development just for pleasure after I have done what will help me make money.
For those of you who are in the Web Development & Security worlds… do you have any advice on my dilemma? I seem to have done so many bad decisions in my life (hence only going to college at age 33)… and I don’t want to make one more bad decision because I need to have a career for once. Please help me?

I think you should go ahead with Web Development as it is of your interest and you can carve deeper path as you would find it more interesting. You can find out new ways to make money with web development itself. Choosing Information Systems Security might make the path tough as you would not have interest to do a small job or bigger task.

The only thing you need is determination. As you are 33 years old so you need to make quick decision and a smart move and start heading towards your goal. Nothing is hard, also both the fields are of IT. At times, in life you are forced to do what you do not want but your determination and trust on yourself will let you do what you want.

Both the fields have bright future.

I’m a rising junior in college and since I couldn’t find a job over the summer, I thought I would take some classes. I decided to take introductory accounting because I figured the skill would be useful and it could look good on a resume, although I don’t think it’s interesting. However, I’m not an accounting or business related major and I’m not sure if I will even go into business any time soon – I actually might do volunteer and humanitarian work after graduation (that’s in two years) so I wondered if I would even be able to retain this information. Is introductory accounting basic enough that I could still remember it some years down the line or is this class a waste of my summer? Is merely having this class good for a resume and will it actually help me later if I don’t go corporate or own a business?

The course description is as follows, please let me know if these are useful accounting skills for non-accountants:

This course introduces the basics of financial accounting with emphasis on accounting as an information system which aids in the decision-making process. The focus is on the analysis and classifying of accounting information necessary for the preparation of external general-purpose financial statements. Topics include transaction analysis, development of financial reports, the accounting cycle, accruals and deferrals, receivables, payables, payroll, promissory notes, inventory costing, plant assets and depreciation methods, corporate equity concepts, bonds payable, and present value.

Im an accounting major, so my answer might be a little bias, but I believe that a beginning accounting class would be very helpful for you in the long run. You may not remember everything, but I think you will be able to apply some of the concepts to just about any job.

Yes, you should take introductory accounting. It’s one of the most useful classes on a college campus.

If you can understand a balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows, that will help you out later in life when you are analyzing things such as investing in stocks.

Okay, so, I’ve wanted to be a photographer when I grow up since like..3rd grade. I’ve always really enjoyed taking pictures. A few months ago, I took a personality test as part of my school.. I got personality type: ISTJ. I am so much like that personality it’s scary..

Now over the past few weeks, I’ve been watching the tv show: House M.D. It persuaded me to be a doctor. Between that and my personality type ISTJ, It all came together. I’m starting high school next year and you may think this is too early to decide on a career choice, but I want my high school classes to all compliment my career choice. I really want to be a doctor. I know the tv is nothing like it is in real life, there isn’t even such thing as a diagnostics department.. I think..hah..

I’m hoping it’s just what I would be better at and that I’m not being pursuaded by a tv show.

ISTJs generally have the following traits:

    * Value tradition, security, and peaceful living
* Will work long and hard to fulfill duties

ISTJs have one character trait which puts them at a definite advantage in terms of career success – Perserverance. An ISTJ can do almost anything that they have decided to do. However, there are areas in which they will function more happily and naturally. An ISTJ will do best in a career in which they can use their excellent organizational skills and their powers of concentration to create order and structure. ISTJs seem to fit extremely well into the Management and Executive layer of the corporate business world.

The following list of professions is built on our impressions of careers which would be especially suitable for an ISTJ. It is meant to be a starting place, rather than an exhaustive list. There are no guarantees that any or all of the careers listed here would be appropriate for you, or that your best career match is among those listed.

Possible Career Paths for the ISTJ:

    * Business Executives, Administrators and Managers
* Accountants and Financial Officers
* Police and Detectives
* Judges
* Lawyers
* Medical Doctors / Dentists
* Computer Programmers, Systems Analysts, and Computer Specialists
* Military Leaders

What do you think?

As you shared, you are a possible fit for every career you stated above. The real question is what career is it that you see yourself doing in the next five years or so with complete contentment and without resentment.

It would also help to seek advice from someone who know you. Your parents friends etc. can help you assess what you can do and possible do in the future. This will help you get a clearer picture of things. a clearer picture of you.

It appears that you have a good head on your shoulders as your already contemplating and preparing for your future so keep it up but dont stress and pressure your self too much on the issue.

Its not just a matter of knowing what you can do but what you can do happily and preparing for it.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hi, im here to ask for your opinion.

I been debating whether i should pursue a business or a computer science degree?
Now, I’ve always loved computer since i was little up to this date i do. I know my ins and outs in computers. I did take C++ and Visual Basic in high school but i felt like it was somewhat of a joke since the professor pretty much gave us the code we just plugged it in. Now i know you might say, well there’s your answer, but NO.
I have also improved in my current job and have managed to get a better position. I can see myself been a manager of some sort in a future but that’s why i was considering business and that is pretty much the only reason.
I dont know how much more difficult is computer science going to get as far as coding goes. I do understand and as i said I enjoy doing it but i dont know how difficult it might get, while making a degree difficult is not something im going to base my decision on, it is something i should consider.
Also i know computer science major to work on their field what they need the most is experience, but then again any major would be helpful been a manager at my current job. Considering there is a guy that has a master in chemistry and is a manager at my job which has nothing to do with chemistry.

Any computer science major, How was it to get Your B.A? Im currently going for my AAS. then my Bachelor. Now while im leaning more towards computer science, i want to see some opinions and what is out there. I’m not saying im going to base my choice in regards to your opinion but it would help me see further than what im seen, especially if people in that field help me.

Thanks!

If you are interested in management, get a Business degree in information systems. A MBA in information systems is needed to be the chief information officer in a company.

For starters, a "Wiki" is a website that allows the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked web pages via a web browser using a simplified markup language or a WYSIWYG text editor.

WikiLeaks is not this. Mistake number one!

‘Whoever’ decided to ’set up’ WikiLeaks, and the facades with the people involved eleged to have setup the website – reported on the news as being ‘arrested’ to try and make it more credible and believable, is staged rubbish. There is no Wiki system in place what-so-ever.

After all, Prime Ministers, Presidents and other supposed leaders are clearly nothing more than single figure aesthetical puppets who can be used to feed decision through by the transparent elite who *really* make the decisions. These single supposed leasers are easily disposable and can be used as scapegoats. They are not actual leaders – but an image to fool the mass gullible people.

WikiLeaks stinks of governement propoganda – especially when cretain countries in the Middle East aren’t even mentioned – when they should be – i.e. Israel

Are we really that gullible?  Do we really not use enough socratical thought processes when questioning the information we are fed through the media and appaernt websites, such as ”WikiLeaks";

I believe it is propoganda. These foolish elite who think they can pull the wool over certain people’s eyes know of Wikipedia, and have tried to juxtapose a name that reflects a revolutionary information system.

WikiLeaks is NOT this what-so-ever!

someone has been playing too much metal gear solid.
