Ivanoff Cockpit View With EFIS

Red Bull Air Race pilot Ivanoff flying in London, 2008. This video is for those of you who are interested in electronic flight data. The EFIS, electronic flight instrument system, is a flight deck instrument. Flight data is displayed electronically rather than electromechanically.

What information does the EFIS provide? Left: calibrated airspeed in miles per hour (mph). Right: Altitude (ft). Middle: Attitude indicator. Bottom: Heading.

    These pilots are freaking unreal.

    The first time I saw Red Bull air racing with my own eyes I could scarcely believe what I was seeing.

    If you live within a couple hundred miles of a Red Bull event – by all means, GO. Even if you’re not “into” airplanes and flying, there’s a pretty good chance you will be by the end of the second day.

    Red Bull air racing is the most exciting international sporting event we’ve ever had, truly.

    Very nice vid. I like the EFIS display…too bad it didn’t show a g meter. I’d love to see a NASCAR driver keep up with one of these guys.
