Would you think that there is a hidden agenda here?

We have a school system in this State that requires parents to make a choice which schools there kids will attend… Otherwise they get stuck going to any school the computer picks for them… Often in bad areas or really far away from home.

I received a survey today that is prodding me to answer race related questions to determine why I made the choices I have.

Would you assume that this could in some way effect the way the board makes choices relating to your childs attendence area?

Do you think they would use this information to make decisions you may not agree with because of race issues… when all you really want is for your kids to be close to home?

Im thinking about tossing it in the trash! I think that it is not right to ask these questions of parents nor do I believe it is right that my answers may work against my reasons for making the choices I have.

What do you think?
If Government is not allowed to make decisions based on race… The school board being a part of the Government should n longer be able to ask these questions of people…

Do you agree or disagree and why?

My guess would be that there is a hidden agenda, depending on how the questions are phrased. If the question is about YOUR race or your child’s race, then I would not answer it. If the questions say something like "how important is it to you that your child meet people of various races?" then i think it is less dangerous.

  1. I have never trusted those kinds of surveys. They say they are for data purpose only. They can get that info from the Census. Good question, I am not sure if I am helping, though.
