  • Waze: Crowd-sourced traffic information

Posted by admin on February 16th, 2010 and filed under information system | 12 Comments »

This is a really cool mobile app that uses other people to both build maps and show traffic information. See new accidents before other systems report them, highway reroutes, and other info. http://www.waze.com is a remarkable application that you should try, and it’s free. Here we get a demo. If you get a critical mass of users in an area, I think Waze could easily outperform ANY static platform. That, and Waze is dynamic. You don’t have to buy a new device to get updated maps with new roads.

If you own a smartphone, its really a no brainer.
