what kind of professional work someone can do with information management and system degree?

well,i choose to do information management and information system all together, but i still not quite sure what kind of job i might do in the future. I choose these courses because they are related to computer but when people asking me what kind of job i might get with this degree i don’t know what to explain to them. Can someone help me here?

Reckon you need to be exploring multidimensional databases, data warehousing and data mining: all forms of management information.
Traditionally "owned" by finance areas, due to the importance of numbers in statutory results, but nowadays system and software capability offers potential roles for operational and marketing management.

Look for job ads in these fields, and try and visualise the roles from the job descriptions.

  2. Well, I’m currently and MIS (Management Information Systems) major and I can try to help you understand what job(s) you may be doing after college.

    Information Systems deals with databases and how data flows back and forth. A great example is a banking system. When people deposit their money, they have a bank account number, check number, etc. All of that information is stored into a database, and there are people who maintain and design databases. So, a database administrator is definitely in the scope of your degree.

    Also, you can be a Systems Analyst. Basically, what they do is they solve problems within the business. It’s all about making the business more efficient, and more productive. So, we all know Block Buster as being a movie-renting store. Because of Net Flix, Block Buster had to change the way they did business because they were getting no profit; Net Flix practically took all of their customers. This is a huge business problem. So a Systems Analyst would write down the problem, why it’s a problem, and how do we solve this problem. Now, there are many ways to solve a problem, and the best solution will be chosen.
