Background knowledge and the development of Information Systems Planning?

Hey, im studying a degree in ICT and have an assignment I require help with from the general public and would greatly appreciate your knowledge to be shared.

I am asked to review recent developments in the field of Information Systems Planning and the success or failure of the application of these concepts and techniques with examples.

I was wondering if anyone reading this has any personal experiences within the development of ISP’s and if so could they share their knowledge so I could use it as an example(s) in my assignment. Specifically if there is any knowledge out there on the key concepts and techniques currently being used within the current field. And how relevant these are to the development. I would love to hear from a information systems professional, many thanks

Essentially an information system plan (ISP) is what is sounds just like. It’s the development of plans and strategy’s to incorporate an information system into an organisations business system in a structured and planned way. Identifying the existing and relevant technologies available, a direction can be established for the organisation, and by implementing an ISP, the organisation can ensure that sufficient planning has been undertaken to achieve the required successful implementation of said system.
