How is GIS useful to different majors. and what can those jobs lead one to become with GIS knowledge?

I need to know how Geographic Information Systems affects individual university majors, example with anthropology you can use GIS to map out cultural places facing language extinction and make predictions on where the next target is. I hope you understand what i am tryin to communicate?
