What do you think the importance of information management is for global organisations? What are some of the?

The global economic village has moved from industrialisation to an information and knowledge based ecomomy. In am interested in information management systems for global-based organisations. I am trying to debate this. How would you go about this? Anyone have any ideas and knowledge around this topic?
