A teller and a customer and the customers details are being registered with a store. That’s the information system. What’s the environment for this? (things that affect or are affected by the system but aren’t directly a part of it) the customer, for example.
information systems are not considered to be a problem

I am doing an MBA program with an option of doing an emphasis in Information System and Global Business. I like them both, but I don’t know which is more demanding in job market and looks better in my resume. I am looking forward to work for a media or entertainment company, or work in the medical field (in business).
Any suggestions? Thanks
Information Systems no doubt about it. Will get you direct job leads.
Global business wont do you any direct good unless you decide to move overseas to do business, which isn’t easy to say the least.

If you are American and don’t know about the Canadian laws for youths, just exit this window right now I don’t have time for that. I’m sick of people who aren’t credible sources answering my questions with false information.
Anyways, I was charged last year with B&E and the crown offered me diversion (there were special circumstances) and I completed it successfully. I went to court, presented that information and the judge said, ‘the case against (my name here) is dismissed’… what does this mean exactly? Haha, thanks!
Diversion means that if you comply with the court demands, the charges will be withdrawn and you will not bear a criminal record. It will be eliminated from your record. I think they only do this in Ontario though, and usually for a first offence.

I go to University of Houston and I was just wondering if computer science is a good minor with management information system major? I thinking of getting a minor in computer science since MIS also deals with computer in some extend. Is this a good a ideal, is it hard and is it worth it?
You have an excellent combination./

Hello everyone. I am 33 years old and I will start my bachelors program later this year and need to make a decision. I know that I want to have a career in IT/IS, there is no question about that. However, this is going to be a new beginning for me. I have some work experience in System Implementation, but that is it, all rest of my experience is not in that area. So, I know I will need to start from zero, and I’m not afraid of that.
My problem is whether I should go for something that I know I would enjoy (Web Development)… or if I should go for something that apparently would give me better chances to find a job (Information Systems Security).
I have friends telling me I should do Web Development if this is something that I will enjoy, because it will empower me to work harder and stand out. But I have other friends telling me that I should go for Information Systems Security because I would have better chances to find a job, and that I should then do web development just for pleasure after I have done what will help me make money.
For those of you who are in the Web Development & Security worlds… do you have any advice on my dilemma? I seem to have done so many bad decisions in my life (hence only going to college at age 33)… and I don’t want to make one more bad decision because I need to have a career for once. Please help me?
I think you should go ahead with Web Development as it is of your interest and you can carve deeper path as you would find it more interesting. You can find out new ways to make money with web development itself. Choosing Information Systems Security might make the path tough as you would not have interest to do a small job or bigger task.
The only thing you need is determination. As you are 33 years old so you need to make quick decision and a smart move and start heading towards your goal. Nothing is hard, also both the fields are of IT. At times, in life you are forced to do what you do not want but your determination and trust on yourself will let you do what you want.
Both the fields have bright future.

I’m a rising junior in college and since I couldn’t find a job over the summer, I thought I would take some classes. I decided to take introductory accounting because I figured the skill would be useful and it could look good on a resume, although I don’t think it’s interesting. However, I’m not an accounting or business related major and I’m not sure if I will even go into business any time soon – I actually might do volunteer and humanitarian work after graduation (that’s in two years) so I wondered if I would even be able to retain this information. Is introductory accounting basic enough that I could still remember it some years down the line or is this class a waste of my summer? Is merely having this class good for a resume and will it actually help me later if I don’t go corporate or own a business?
The course description is as follows, please let me know if these are useful accounting skills for non-accountants:
This course introduces the basics of financial accounting with emphasis on accounting as an information system which aids in the decision-making process. The focus is on the analysis and classifying of accounting information necessary for the preparation of external general-purpose financial statements. Topics include transaction analysis, development of financial reports, the accounting cycle, accruals and deferrals, receivables, payables, payroll, promissory notes, inventory costing, plant assets and depreciation methods, corporate equity concepts, bonds payable, and present value.
Im an accounting major, so my answer might be a little bias, but I believe that a beginning accounting class would be very helpful for you in the long run. You may not remember everything, but I think you will be able to apply some of the concepts to just about any job.
